Give and get busy with good works
'Each one should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not out of regret or compulsion. For God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things, at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.'
(2 Corinthians 9:8-9)
There are a few notes to read and underline in the above mentioned verse:
1. Giving should never be done under compulsion or with regrets. The Bible even says that God loves a ' cheerful giver'. Therefore it is unscriptural to force someone into giving because it may give birth to angry bitter feelings.Giving should be done with joy.
2. Have you noticed that the Grace of God will make the cheerful givers abound in all good works?
This is a very good line especially for those in business. Cheerful givers will always be busy with good things to do. God will fill their agendas with constructive activities.
As I am blessed through God's grace, I am always filled with new activities in my business, new activities in my ministry, new visions for my life and others...
A cheerful giver will always have a project to work on or a job to do. A cheerful giver does not have the time to hang around idle.
One of the main characteristics of a person who never or barely gives is this:' they always lack things to do and their daily schedules are filled with nothing or they abound in distasteful works. They may lie or even state that they give regularly but if you look closely at their lives, you will see the following:
' Either they have nothing to work on or they abound in distasteful works.
What do I mean by ' distasteful works'?
Distasteful works are activities that are out of line with our purpose, the things we hate but we do because of survival. Distasteful works are like prisons that keep us from living the purpose that God had for us.
Me, I am always busy with good works. Even if I do not have client in my practice, I have a project to work on, a blog post to share with thousands of readers, people to fellowship with, sports activities to get on with, a book to plan, new visions or mandates that God give me...
I am always busy with good works.
Believe me:'even the housewife that gives cheerfully will have her fill of good works in her home. She will always be doing something constructive. Good works are not just financially productive activities. They can also include activities related to our social circles, family, volunteering,etc...
I say this so that you can imitate me and get out of that 'nothing-life' and out of those ' purposeless activities'.
So give to the Kingdom and do it cheerfully. Give to the Kingdom by supporting your church, ministries and causes that advance the agendas of God's Kingdom.
Give and be busy with good works.
Remember what Jesus said:'Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.”
(Luke 6:38)
We cannot constantly expect to receive while we never give. The measure we use, will be measured back to us...
